Dr. Melissa Dudley, PhD Licensed Psychologist

About Me

I’m Melissa Dudley, a licensed psychologist and the founder of Red Elm Psychology. I provide individualized counseling for children, adolescents, and young adults experiencing anxiety, stress, mood concerns, ADHD and executive functioning challenges, emotional difficulties, and life transitions.

Professional Background

I have over 10 years of experience providing counseling and psychological assessment services to children, adolescents, and young adults.

I earned my PhD in Counseling and School Psychology from the University at Buffalo in 2020, my Master’s degree in Social Work from the University at Buffalo in 2014 and my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from SUNY Geneseo in 2011. I am dually licensed in psychology and social work in New York.

Prior to opening Red Elm Psychology, I worked in both mental health and school settings, providing a variety of psychological services, including individual and group counseling, psychoeducational evaluations, and neuropsychological assessments. These experiences have given me a broad understanding of the emotional, behavioral, learning, and developmental factors that can affect children, adolescents, and young adults.

My clinical training has included extensive experience with cognitive behavioral approaches for anxiety, stress, mood concerns, and related difficulties, with particular experience working with teens and young adults.

Teaching & Professional Work

In addition to my work in private practice, I am an Associate Professor of School Psychology at Alfred University in Alfred, New York. I teach graduate courses in counseling and psychotherapy, social-emotional assessment, and supervision and administration of psychological services.

I also serve as the school psychology internship coordinator and provide clinical supervision to master's- and doctoral-level students and post-doctoral psychologists.

My work as a clinician, educator, and supervisor allows me to bring together practical clinical experience, psychological training, and current approaches to professional practice.

Professional Organizations & Affiliations

I maintain active involvement in professional organizations that support the fields of psychology and school psychology.

  • American Psychological Association (APA)

  • New York State Psychological Association (NYSPA)

  • National Association of School Psychologists (NASP)

  • New York Association of School Psychologists (NYASP)

Supervision & Consultation

In addition to clinical services, I offer professional supervision and consultation for psychologists, mental health professionals, graduate students, and school professionals, as well as consultation services for school districts and educational organizations.

My experience working in schools, providing clinical services, teaching graduate students, and supervising developing psychologists allows me to approach consultation with an understanding of both clinical practice and the practical demands of educational settings.
